Dear Maharajas, Prabhus, and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Here is the Report of Srila Prabhupada's Third Monthly Sankirtan Festival. Great photos are attached to this email. (We posted additional photos on Facebook.)
It took place on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 1:00-4:30 p.m. inside the Union Square subway station (where it was much warmer than outside).
About 32 devotees attended for part or all of the sankirtan festival.
We had lots of ecstatic harinam. Kirtans were led by Bhakta Dau, Caitanayananda Prabhu, Bhaktin Denisse, and Ananta Nitai. Candasekhar Swami, Govinda, Caitanyananda, Mauricio, and Partha played mrdanga.
We also distributed about 120 of Srila Prabhupada's books.
We distributed 500 delicious and beautiful prasadam cookies made by Vilasa Manjari. Sundari Gopika also made traditional Indian sweets for distribution. Vilasa Manjari also made yummy prasadam sandwiches for all the devotees at the festival. A special thanks to her!
All glories to the sankirtana devotees! Those who participated in the last MSF were: His Holiness Candrasekhar Swami, Atmanivedana, Subhangada, Denisse, Francesca, Dau, Mauricio, Matthew, Krsna Karuna, Sundari Gopika, Ramananda, Caitanyananda, Govind, Raul, Jivatma, Vilas Manjari, Govinda, Vrinda, Manjulali Manjari, Goura, Joe, Madhu Sri, Sandeep, Sundarananda, Vikranth, Stanislav, Karunika, Ananta Nitai, Nirmala Prema, Nandlal Gaur, Kamal, and Partha.
The next monthly sankirtana festival will be on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. It will be in the same location inside the Union Square subway station.
Please kindly let me know if you want to participate in the next monthly sankirtan festival, as soon as you know.
For those of you who do not have experience distributing Srila Prabhupada's books but would like to learn how, Subhangada and I would love to assist you. Certainly, if you let us know, we can show you how at the monthly sankirtana festivals. Additionally, if enough of you express interest in having a sankirtana meeting, we can arrange to hold a class during which we'll discuss the art and purpose of book distribution. Subhangada and I both used to distribute books day-in-day-out, all day long, year-after-year-after-year, so there is nothing that would make us happier than helping devotees to distribute books. There is no way to get a greater taste in Krishna consciousness than absorbing oneself in Srila Prabhupada's book distribution.
Also, there are some services that need to be done to help make each sankirtan festival a success. If you are interested in any of these service and you have extra time or lakshmi, please let me know. Some of those services include arrving at the sankirtana location in advance to save it for the MSF, sponsoring prasadam lunch that Vilasa Manjari prepares for devotees participating in the festival, sponsoring the cost of the ingredients for prasadam cookies that we distribute, sponsoring the purchase of 2 new book tables, sponsoring the purchase of signs advertising the holy names and book distribution, sponsoring the purchase of book racks to stack vertically on top of the book tables. I welcome other ideas, too. However, please know that the most important service of all is to join in person at the monthly sankirtana festivals, and it is totally fine not to do any of these other services.
