Dear Maharajas, Prabhus, and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The next (sixth) monthly sankirtana festival will be on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. It will either be: outside, on the sidewalk, close to the southeast corner of Union Square, across the street from Whole Foods. (If it is raining, it will be inside the Union Square subway station--directions to find the location inside the subway station are in an attached file.) Please let me know if you want to participate in the next monthly sankirtan festival, as soon as you know.

What follows is my Report on Srila Prabhupada's Fifth Monthly Sankirtana Festival (MSF). Wonderful photos (taken by Jaya Lakshmi dasi) are attached to this email.
The 5th MSF took place on Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 1:00-4:30 p.m. outside on the steps of Union Square. Gathering near us were many participants of Occupy Wall Street... and about 100 policeman.

We had our largest MSF yet, with at least 47 devotees and friends of Krishna.

Gauranga Prema led the first kirtans, then Gabriel, then Gaura Bhagavan, then Rama Raya, and Denisse finished with a short and fired up kirtan. Premarnava, Gaura Bhagavan, Parth, Gabriel, Mauricio, and Alex played mrdanga at different times.

The book distributors included Atma, Matthew, Ramananda, Govind, Madhu Sri, and also Fred, whose successful debut caused 5 persons to begin their journey back to Godhead due to their walking away with Srila Prabhupada's books. We distributed over 70 of Srila Prabhupada's books.

At this MSF, we did not distribute prasadam cookies because Vilas Manjari Mataji prepared prasadam for an important program at the new Queens Hare Krishna center.

Everyone, including the devotees, those attending nama hatta programs, the police, the innocent by-standers who sat to chant with us, to the residents of New York walking by, appreciated or loved our sankirtana festival. Thanks to all of you who participated and to those who supported our preaching event from behind the scenes. It was such a joyous occasion!

Among those who attended are: Atmanivedana, Subhangada, Matthew, Premarnava, Manu, Havi, Mauricio, Alex, Rama Raya, Denisse, Ramananda, Jaya Lakshmi, Anshika, Arnav, Ankur Garg, Nimisha, Fred, Raul, Yamini, Gaura bhagavan, Daya Rupa, Govind, Zoleta, Vikranth, Regina, Gemma, Sandip, Madhu Sri, Joe, Nirmala Prema, Avinash, A.C., Sundarananda, Amala Gopi, Shyam, Balaram, Parth, Goura, Nand Lal Gaur, Francesca, Gauranga Prema, Allegra and her friend, Nadi, Alexandra, "Hanuman," and Gabriel.

Your servants, with gratitude,

Atmanivedana das & Subhangada dasi ()

P.S. Some devotees have expressed interest in going out on Harinam sankirtana and transcendental book distribution more frequently. For those of you who want to do this more frequently, let me know, and eventually a team that regularly goes on sankirtana will emerge.

P.P.S. For those of you interested in learning the art of book distribution, I and Subhangada would be happy to show you how -- either informally on the street at an MSF, or during a sankirtana meeting, which we can arrange upon devotees' request.

P.P.P.S. There are some services that need to be done to help make each sankirtana festival a success. If you are interested in any of these services and you have extra time or lakshmi, please let me know. Some of those services include arrving at the sankirtana location in advance to save it for the MSF, sponsoring prasadam lunch that Vilasa Manjari prepares for devotees participating in the festival, sponsoring the cost of the ingredients for prasadam cookies that we distribute, sponsoring the purchase of or acquiring 2 new book tables, sponsoring the purchase of or acquiring signs advertising the holy names and book distribution, and more. I welcome other ideas, too.
